Day 1: Thursday, May 17 – Welcome all and we’re on our way to Stone Mountain, GA where we will see Stone Mountain Park and tour Atlanta. Depart pickup locations for our fun travel day to our Courtyard by Marriott in Paducah, KY. Lunch and Dinner will be en route. Arrive at hotel and relax.
Day 2: Friday, May 18 – Enjoy our Hot Breakfast at hotel before departing to Stone Mountain, GA. Lunch on own en route to hotel. Arrive to our hotel, Stone Mountain Inn by Marrott, Stone Mountain, GA where we will stay for 4 nights. Located inside Georgia’s Stone Mountain Park, the historic Stone Mountain Inn provides magnificent views of Stone Mountain and exceptional comfort. The Inn is a carefully preserved replica of a nineteenth century plantation. After check-in and time to relax, we’ll depart for dinner (Pre-Paid).
Day 3: Saturday, May 19 – Enjoy a Deluxe Continental Breakfast at hotel before we depart for the exciting day ahead of us! We will enjoy a full day admission included to Stone Mountain Park. Located on 3,200 acres of natural beauty, Stone Mountain Park features a wide variety of fun family activities and things to do. The Park offers the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor entertainment for our group. From demonstration crafters in their 1870’s town, Crossroads, to a self-guided stroll through their Antebellum Plantation & Farmyard, they have a wide variety of attractions for all ages. Trek through the treetops on Sky Hike, the nation’s largest adventure course; take a skyride to the top of Stone Mountain and get a up-close look at the Stone Mountain Carving; ride a scenic 5-mile train around the mountain; and enjoy Georgia’s First 4-D Theater. We will have lunch on own in park. Then we will meet for a nice dinner buffer (Pre-Paid) before having the best seats in the house with our reserved terrace seating and enjoying a truly magnificent Laser Light Spectacular Show after dinner. A not-to-be-missed Atlanta tradition that will wow you with state-of-the-art digital graphics and awe-inspiring effects. The Lasershow features lights, iconic music, lasers and epic fireworks. Plus, three flame cannons add a punch to the show by sending a trio of flames nearly one-hundred feet into the air.
Day 4: Sunday, May 20 – Enjoy the Deluxe Continental Breakfast at our hotel before we depart for a Guided Tour of Atlanta. We will also have free time for shopping, etc. at Ponce City Market with Lunch on own. Ponce City Market breathes new life into the historic Sears, Roebuck & Co. building in Atlanta. The classic structure, which is the area’s largest adaptive reuse project, has been reinvented as a vibrant community hub housing the Central Food Hall, various shops, flats and offices, all while pointing back to the roots of its inception. The market infuses vigor and excitement into this historically-significant structure, located in one of Atlanta’s most cherished neighborhoods. At the heart of Ponce City Market, the Central Food Hall is becoming the most vibrant food hall and market in the Southeast. Similar to the legendary food hall at Chelsea Market in Manhattan – also owned by the developers of Ponce City Market – the Central Food Hall is a culinary gathering place within a revamped historic space, but with the distinct character and flavors of Atlanta. After, w will visit the Martin Luther King Jr National historic site. We will stop at the Visitor Center and browse the exhibits. Pause in the International World Peace Rose Garden and enjoy the roses and fountain. Stop at the “Behold” Memorial on our way to the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. After crossing Auburn Avenue at the corner, enter the church. Proceed upstairs to the Sanctuary and listen to sermons and speeches of Dr. King. In Fellowship Hall, we may browse the exhibits about the history of the church or watch a video of Dr. Christine King Ferris, Dr. King’s sister, as she talks about her family and the church. Turn right as we exit the church and continue east and take the steps on our right up to the reflecting pool. Pause to reflect at Dr. and Mrs. King. As we cross the boulevard, view the historic Fire Station No. 6 on the corner. Stroll down and back on the Birth Home Block viewing the wayside exhibits telling about the people and houses along Auburn Avenue. Then, return to the north of the Visitor Center to view the Ghandhi Statue and to stroll down the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame. Then we’re off to Stately Oaks Plantation for a tour and elegant southern cooked dinner (Pre-Paid). A Greek Revival 1839 antebellum home in the land of “Gone with the Wind.” The historic grounds are home to the main house, country store, one-room schoolhouse, cook house and much more. The stories of the citizens of Jonesboro that inspired Margaret Mitchell to write her Pulitzer Prize winning novel, “Gone with the Wind”. Come and rock a while on the front porch! Stop by Juddy’s Country Store for a bottled Coke and moon pie . . . bring back the memories of a simpler time.
Day 5: Monday, May 21 – After enjoying the Deluxe Continental Breakfast this morning, we will depart for a days of many activities. First, we’ll journey into the heart of CNN Worldwide for an exciting glimpse of news and broadcasting in action! The Inside CNN Studio Tour takes us behind the scenes of the Global Headquarters of CNN in Atlanta. Then we’ll have lunch on own at the CNN food court. Now, we’ll go visit the World of Coca Cola, the only place where you can explore the complete story of the world’s best-known brand! Taste over 60 different beverages from around the globe, experience their thrilling 4-D Theater (3D movie with moving seats), be amazed by a fully-functioning bottling line and take home a FREE 8-ounce bottle of Coca-Cola, and much, much more! Lastly, we will have a self-guided tour through the Georgia Aquarium – The world’s largest aquarium! With eight million gallons of fresh and marine water, it houses more than a hundred thousand animals and represents several thousand species, our group will experience everything from whale sharks and beluga whales, to sea otters and more! Georgia Aquarium’s exciting dolphin gallery features a unique viewing area and AT&T Dolphin Celebration presentation where guests are treated to an exclusive look at how we train our dolphins with positive reinforcement. Plus an action packed 4D Theater and an enticing food court! Whew, not quite done! We’ll end the day with dinner (Pre-Paid) at Mary Mac’s Tea Room. For over 60 years, Mary Mac’s has been setting the standard for Southern cooking in Atlanta. Business people, celebrities, families, and world travelers all dine at Mary Mac’s and feel right at home.
Day 6: Tuesday, May 22 – After our Deluxe Continental Breakfast we will depart our hotel for home. We will have lunch and dinner on own during our travel before arriving at our hotel, Courtyard by Marriott in Paducah, KY for the night.
Day 7: Wednesday, May 23 – After enjoying our last breakfast together, we will depart for home with LOTS of good memories and new “friends and family”! We hope you enjoyed the tour!
