Welcome Aboard! We’ll depart our pick up locations for a nice enjoyable ride to delightful Door County, Wisconsin. Breakfast treats and bottled water on board and we will stop for lunch and dinner en route to our hotel. Then we will check into our hotel, and relax for the evening.

Day 2:
tuesday, juNE 29

Breakfast will be served at the Lodge. Our Door County step-on guide will meet us at the Lodge and we will depart for Cave Point Door County Park where the winds & waves from Lake Michigan have worn away limestone cliffs to create underwater caves. On some days, the sound of the waves crashing into the cliffs is thunderous, and the spray can shoot up 20 feet in the air! The view from the top is breathtaking as we watch the water splash and swirl beneath us. Then we on to Fish Creek Boat Tours where we will be taking a guided tour on the waters north long Peninsula State Park’s seven mile shoreline. Learn about the park’s human and natural history, including the story of the Niagara Escarpment. Have your cameras ready as we cruise past the 145-year-old Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Learn about the history of Ephraim and the millionaire’s estate “Englemar” on Horseshoe Island. Enjoy an up close and personal view of Eagle Cave, 40 feet above the shoreline and hear stories of French explorers. After, we’ll lunch at Sonny’s Pizzeria. (Pre-Paid-All-Inclusive) They serve a great buffet with salad bar and great pizza choices. Once we’ve regained our energy, we are off to the Door County Maritime Museum where we’ll have a guided tour of the 20,000 square foot museum where you will explore the rich maritime history of their county. Back to hotel to rest up and refresh prior to dinner. Before dinner, we’ll stop and visit one of the greatest wineries in Egg Harbor called Harbor Ridge Winery where we can do some tasting if wish or shopping of their great wines and cheeses. That evening, we’ll enjoy dinner at the Log Den Restaurant for a Buffet Dinner. (Pre-Paid-All-Inclusive).

Day 3:
Wednesday, june 30

After Breakfast at the Lodge, we’ll depart for Northport Pier. Meet guide on mainland, board ferry in the comfort of our own Motorcoach and during ride, guide will give history of the outlaying islands Lighthouses and intro to Washington Island. Our first stop on the Island will be a restroom break at the information center. On the island, we will see the beautiful West Harbor and learn about logging in the 1800’s as well as the Niagra Encampment. We will also see the beautiful Norwegian Stave Chapel-authentically patterned after the one in Borgund, Norway, follow the prayer path to Trinity Lutheran Church and learn about life on the Island. We will continue our tour with a visit to the Historic Island Dairy and see their Island Lavender fields. They also have the Island History Exhibit and the Type & Ink Art Gallery. This stop should please everyone. Now, I think we’re hungry for Lunch at Ships Wheelhouse Restaurant including homemade soup/Chicken Salad on a croissant/Chips/Coleslaw/Pickle/Cherry Pie & basic beverage. After lunch, on to explore the Island. We shall travel on the Main road and learn about the Performing Arts Center, Recreation Center, School System, Community Center Library and Clinic. Plus meet some of the Islanders.

On to Historic Washington Harbor and the beautiful Schoolhouse Beach.  Then we can step back into history at the farm museum and learn about Island life without electricity!! Onto Jackson Harbor to learn about Commercial fishing and view Wisconsin’s smallest state park across the harbor. We will then wind our way across the back roads to the Ferry Dock. Depart the island for a tour of the orchards at Seaquist Orchard and then do some shopping at their Farmer’s market. Later this evening, we will have dinner at the English Inn Restaurant. (Pre-Paid-All-Inclusive).

Day 4:
thursday, july 1

Enjoy Breakfast at Lodge. We will then meet our guide and off we go to see a concert with Dan Meunier: Dan is a composer, singer and storyteller holding concerts in his historic schoolhouse which doubles as a museum. The schoolhouse, filled with works of art and eclectic antiquities, has become a place for Dan to share his love of the creative spirit. We will enjoy a concert of old-time music, comedy and hymns that is sure to please! Dan performs from a grand piano, an upright piano, and from an antique parlor organ. We will close with a sing-along. No tour to Door County is complete without a stop at Bjorklunden Stave Chapel. This little gem is patterned after the Stave Chapel in Lillehammer, Norway and is filled with 41 Fresco Paintings and beautiful wood carvings. We shall have a guided tour to learn of the dedication and history of the people who built this gem during WWII. From there, we lunch at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant. Meal includes Swedish meatballs, Swedish pancakes with lingonberries/beverage and ice cream. Again, experiencing the Scandinavian influence as we dine along with seeing the goats on the roof! Then onto experiencing a further “Taste of Door County” at the Farm Market. Sample Wisconsin’s Famous Cheddars, homemade jams/jellies/relishes and dried/chocolate covered cherries! As we drive through Wisconsin’s largest State Park, we can experience the beauty of the shores and bluffs on our way to Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Built in 1868, the living quarters are completely furnished from that era. We will learn about life in a lighthouse as we step back into the 1880’s. From there, we will shop in some of the neatest shops on the Peninsula. After shopping, we will stroll over to Pelletier’s for their famous Fish Boil. We will watch the boilover and enjoy the technique and cooking process of the Traditional Door County Fish Boil. Our meal will consist of Fresh Lake Michigan Whitefish boiled with Baby Red Potatoes and Sweet Boiling Onions, served with melted butter and Lemon along with their made fresh daily homemade coleslaw, dark Bavarian rye and Homestyle honey white bread, choice of beverage, and of course, a slice of Seaquist Orchards Door County Cherry Pie for dessert. After dinner, travel back to hotel.
