After Breakfast at the Lodge, we’ll depart for Northport Pier. Meet guide on mainland, board ferry in the comfort of our own Motorcoach and during ride, guide will give history of the outlaying islands Lighthouses and intro to Washington Island. Our first stop on the Island will be a restroom break at the information center. On the island, we will see the beautiful West Harbor and learn about logging in the 1800’s as well as the Niagra Encampment. We will also see the beautiful Norwegian Stave Chapel-authentically patterned after the one in Borgund, Norway, follow the prayer path to Trinity Lutheran Church and learn about life on the Island. We will continue our tour with a visit to the Historic Island Dairy and see their Island Lavender fields. They also have the Island History Exhibit and the Type & Ink Art Gallery. This stop should please everyone. Now, I think we’re hungry for Lunch at Ships Wheelhouse Restaurant including homemade soup/Chicken Salad on a croissant/Chips/Coleslaw/Pickle/Cherry Pie & basic beverage. After lunch, on to explore the Island. We shall travel on the Main road and learn about the Performing Arts Center, Recreation Center, School System, Community Center Library and Clinic. Plus meet some of the Islanders.
On to Historic Washington Harbor and the beautiful Schoolhouse Beach. Then we can step back into history at the farm museum and learn about Island life without electricity!! Onto Jackson Harbor to learn about Commercial fishing and view Wisconsin’s smallest state park across the harbor. We will then wind our way across the back roads to the Ferry Dock. Depart the island for a tour of the orchards at Seaquist Orchard and then do some shopping at their Farmer’s market. Later this evening, we will have dinner at the English Inn Restaurant. (Pre-Paid-All-Inclusive).
