Day 1:
Sunday, January 12
Welcome Aboard! Round trip motorcoach airport transfer service is included from Marshalltown to Des Moines airport and return. Today depart from Des Moines airport for Honolulu. Arrive in Honolulu. On arrival in Honolulu you will be met at baggage claim with a Traditional Flower Lei Greeting then escorted to your waiting motorcoach where porters will take care of getting your luggage from the carousel to the bus. On arrival at the hotel you will be greeted by your Local Escort. Bellmen will deliver your luggage and you will be escorted to your hospitality desk for check-in. The balance of this day is free to rest from the flight or take a walk on the beach. (All meals on own)
Day 2:
Monday, January 13
Good Morning! Honolulu – Pearl Harbor and City Sightseeing. After a Full American Breakfast. You will be met by a private coach for a tour of the USS Arizona Memorial. You’ll learn one of their country’s most valuable history lessons: how men and women gave their lives on that “Day of Infamy,” December 7, 1941. It was the attack at Pearl Harbor that brought America into WWII, and it was on the Battleship USS Missouri (also included in your tour) on Sept 2, 1945 that Gen Douglas MacArthur received the Japanese Surrender that ended the war. This experience will make you proud and thankful for the freedoms we enjoy today. Your narrated driving tour of Honolulu also winds through the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), Washington Place (The Governor’s Mansion), the State Capitol Building, Chinatown, past the Iolani Palace and the King Kamehamaha Statue. Dinner tonight is at a Japanese Steakhouse. Hawaii is a melting pot of cultures and tonight you are going to learn how to dine Japanese Style. You will sit at tables of 10 as your Teppanyaki Chef prepares Japanese Steakhouse Beef, shrimp and chicken with flames reaching the ceiling, right before your very eyes. Day 3:
Tuesday, January 14
Honolulu – Grand Circle Island Tour. This breathtakingly beautiful 120-mile trip around the island of Oahu drive past Hawaii’s most famous landmark Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay, Halona Blowhole, Pali Lookout, Byodo-In Temple visit, stop at the Tropical Farms Macadamia Nuts, drive past the big wave surf beaches of the North Shore and the unparalleled South Pacific vistas on the Eastern Side of the island, a stop in Haleiwa, and stop at Dole
Plantation. Dinner tonight at Duke’s Waikiki. Duke Kahanamoku was known as Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha and the legend lives on at this restaurant. You enjoy Polynesian flare in an open air, beachfront setting as the sun drops off into the blue Pacific. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 4:
Wednesday, January 15
Optional Activities Available. Rise and Shine, it’s Hawaiian time! After your included breakfast this morning, enjoy the opportunity to hang loose Hawaiian style. Optional activities like a Barefoot Catamaran Sail or a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center will be available for purchase or you can sit back, relax, and simply enjoy your day in paradise. (Breakfast included)
Day 5:
Thursday, January 16
Kauai – Wailua River – Fern Grotto. This morning you meet your Tour Manager and transfer luggage to the bus, then the airport as you Island Hop to The Garden Isle Kauai. On arrival you see Waimea Canyon, nicknamed the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’ by Mark Twain. You’ll be given a visual and verbal history along the way. You will see Old Koloa Town (circa 1834) in the heart of Hawaii’s first Sugar Cane Plantation. Then Waimea the little town that grew up where Captain Cook fort set foot in Hawaii in 1778. Finally arriving at the foot level overlook where will experience an unsurpassed 360 degree panoramic view of this geological wonder. (Breakfast and Lunch included)
Day 6:
Friday, January 17
Kauai Free Time & Evening Luau. Rise and Shine, it’s Hawaiian time! After your included breakfast this morning, enjoy the opportunity to hang loose Hawaiian style. Optional morning activities like a Snorkeling or a boat ride to the Napali Coast or Helicopter Tours, will be available for purchase or you can sit back, relax, and simply enjoy your day in paradise. This evening is a Luau, a grand celebration of food, entertainment and Polynesian culture at sunset. Luau tradition begins with a kalua pig cooked in an imu (earth oven), with haupia (coconut pudding) and poi (Hawaiian taro starch). Then under the stars you have witness a live musical performance of the hula – it can tell stories of Kauai, or showcase dances from across Polynesia, like the frenetic Tahitian dance or the thrilling Samoan fire-knife dance (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 7:
Saturday, January 18
Cruise the Wailua River to Fern Grotto. Today you enjoy a leisurely cruise down the Wailua River to the botanical beauty of the Fern Grotto. where you will be serenaded by the Hawaiian Wedding Song. This tour makes another stop at the 151-foot tall Opaekaa Falls – in full sunlight the water sparkles from the volcanic basalt cliff that it falls from. It will be a light tour day and you will have the rest of the day to relax in Kauai. A farewell dinner will follow at night at the Naupaka Terrace Restaurant at the Hotel. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 8:
Sunday, January 19
Departure Day. Enjoy our last nice HOT breakfast together, bid Aloha and Mahalo to the Islands, before we depart for the Airport and begin a safe journey home. Upon arrival in Des Moines, your motorcoach will meet you at the airport for your return to Marshalltown. (Breakfast included). Arrive home with many pictures, wonderful memories and new great friends! Welcome home!
