This tour features “The Big Three” of the Hawaiian Islands. Start with the beauty and culture of Kona, then the exotic as you explore Volcanoes National Park. The adventure ends in beautiful Maui and Kauai. Natives say “Maui no ka oi” — Maui is the best.

Day 1:

Saturday, January 31

Flight to Hawaii – Today, you will be transferred to Des Moines airport for your flight to Hawaii. Today, upon your arrival in Kona, you’ll be warmly welcomed with a fresh flower lei at baggage claim and guided to your transportation to the hotel. At the hotel, your Travel Director will greet you, assisting with check-in and providing a brief orientation of your upcoming adventure in Paradise. Additionally, to start your experience on a refreshing note, a welcome drink will await you, setting the perfect tone for your stay. You will spend two nights at the Royal Kona Resort – Ocean View Rooms. Dinner (Pre-Paid) this evening. (D)

Day 2:

Sunday, February 1

Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park – Today, immerse your selves in the island’s stunning natural landscapes and volcanic wonders during a full-day excursion. Head to the eastern side of Hawaii Island to Hilo, a charming and historical town, where you will have time to explore the farmers’ markets and town followed by a visit to Rainbow Falls. Marvel at the sight and sound of this 80-foot waterfall cascading over a natural lava cave into a large pool below—a prime spot for capturing memorable photos. Next, venture into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, known as Pele’s Playground. Enjoy a stop at the visitor’s center to watch a 20-minute film about the park. The tour continues with a drive past Kilauea Iki crater, offering a chance to look down into the crater from its rim, and a visit to the Steam Vents to feel the earth’s warmth. After enjoying lunch on own at the lodge, leave the volcanic landscapes behind and head towards Kailua-Kona, making stops at Punalu’u Bake Shop to sample their famous sweet breads and at the Black Sand Beach to potentially spot Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. Returning to the hotel, the evening is yours to relax or explore the quaint town of Kona. Dinner is on your own. (B)

Day 3:

Monday, February 2

 Kona & Coffee – Start your morning with the stunning sight of the sunrise along the Kona coastline. The peacefulness of the sun emerging over the Pacific, painting the sky in warm colors, offers a tranquil beginning to your day. Following breakfast, enjoy a tour of Kona Joe’s Coffee, nestled in the core of Kona’s famed coffee region. During the guided tour of this celebrated plantation, you’ll dive into the intricate world of coffee cultivation, from the initial planting to the final roast. The distinctive trellising technique employed by Kona Joe’s, reminiscent of vineyard practices, adds a unique twist to the experience. Concluding with a tasting, you’ll have the chance to appreciate the deep, complex flavors of authentic Kona coffee.

The afternoon is at your leisure, whether you’re inclined to explore the picturesque town of Kailua-Kona or unwind at the resort. This evening, enjoy a Sunset Dinner Cruise (Pre-Paid), listening to local music and enjoying local fare. Overnight at the Outrigger Kona or similar. (B,D)

Day 4:

Tuesday, February 3

 Maui – The Valley Isle – This morning, enjoy a leisurely start to the day before departing for the short flight to Maui. Today will include a visit to Iao Valley State Monument, a lush paradise where towering peaks and vibrant tropical flora abound. A brief stroll leads us to the Iao Needle viewing platform, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. Stop for lunch on own at the Maui Ocean Center and do a little shopping before making our way to the resort, your home on Maui, for the next three nights. This evening and dinner are yours to enjoy on your own. Spend three nights at the Outrigger Kaanapali – Ocean View. (B)

Day 5:

Wednesday, February 4

Haleakala National Park & Upcountry Maui – Today, visit Haleakalā, “House of the Sun”, to experience breathtaking views of landscapes and skyscapes from an elevation of 9,740 feet above sea level. See the red slopes of the dormant volcano, and endemic flora and keep an eye out for the indigenous Nene bird. As you descend Haleakalā, stop for Lunch (Pre-Paid) and a spirit tasting at Hawaii Sea Spirits distillery for sweeping views of the west slope of the crater and enjoy a meal amongst a beautiful garden. After lunch, it’s back to Kaanapali where it’s time for some relaxation and a stroll along the beach before a (Pre-Paid) Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 6:

Thursday, February 5

Road to Hana – Discover the beauty of the Road to Hana as your expert guide navigates 620 curves and 59 bridges, offering stunning coastal views. See Paia Town, Kaumahina State Wayside Park, and the Keanae Peninsula. Savor a fresh farm-to-table lunch at Hana Farms, featuring pizza, salad, and fruit soda. Stroll along the black sand beach at Waianapanapa State Park, and marvel at Hookipa Beach’s worldclass windsurfing. This unforgettable journey promises adventure, scenery, and lasting memories. This evening is yours to explore, stroll the beach, grab dinner at Whalers Village or simply relax at the hotel. (B)

Day 7:

Friday, February 6

Garden Isle, Wailua River Cruise & Tour – Today, say Aloha to the Valley Isle, and continue your adventure to the Garden Isle. On arrival we make our way to the Wailua River Cruise, first stopping at the Opaeka’a Falls View for a photo and then we’ll take a leisurely cruise on the Wailua River, the longest navigable river in all of Hawai’i which includes a stop at the Fern Grotto which highlights the tropical beauty of Kauai and its volcanic past. Enjoy a stop for lunch own in Kapa’a where you’ll have time to browse the quaint boutiques, taste locally crafted chocolate and take in laid back vibes of the town.

Tonight, experience Luau Kalamaku (Pre-Paid), a spectacular show that follows the journey of courageous Polynesian explorers making their way to a new land. Spend the next three nights at Kauai Beach Resort or similar. (B,D)

Day 8:

Saturday, February 7

Waimea Canyon – Nicknamed the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” (thank you Mark Twain) today is your chance to experience the beauty of Waimea Canyon. Enjoy a stop in the Old Kōloa town a historic sugar mill town. Before heading back to Kauai, stop at Spouting Horn, an ocean blowhole where legend has it a mo’o (a large lizard) once guarded this coastline. Watch the sun set this evening as you enjoy your last night on the beautiful island of Kauai. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B)

Day 9:

Sunday, February 8

Kauai at LeisureToday is all about you. Enjoy the amenities at our beautiful property, treat yourself to a spa day relax at the pool or stroll along the beach side. For our adventure seekers join a catamaran sailing cruise and snorkel in the beautiful waters off of Maui. This evening we’ll gather for an evening of laughter, stories, as we enjoy Dinner (Pre-Paid) and reflect on our magical time in Hawaii. (B.D)

Day 10:

Monday, February 9

Kauai Departure – Today, bid Aloha O’e (farewell) to beautiful Hawaii! A Hui Hou! You are transported to the airport where you meet your return flight to the mainland. Once you arrive at the airport, a motorcoach will be waiting to transfer you home.  Arrive home with many pictures, wonderful memories and new great friends! Welcome home! (B)
