Day 1:
saturday, august 28

Welcome Aboard! We’ll depart our pick up locations for a nice ride across the states to our first en route hotel in Schaumburg, IL. Lunch and Dinner on own. Water and snacks provided on coach.

Day 2:
sunday, august 29

Enjoy a nice breakfast at our hotel before traveling onto our hotel in Cleveland, OH. We’ll make a stop today to tour the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This museum recognizes and archives the history of the best-known and most influential artists, producers, engineers, and other notable figures who have had some major influence on the development of rock and roll. Lunch and Dinner on own then to hotel for evening.

Day 3:
monday, august 30

Enjoy a nice breakfast at hotel before departing for New York. Today, we will make a stop at the wonderful “Made in America” store where we will enjoy Lunch (Pre-Paid) and free time in this unique store with 7,000 items 100% made in the USA. The store now has an indoor dining room with the largest privately-owned mural of the U.S. Constitution on display. After, we’ll continue our journey to our hotel for the evening.

Day 4:
tuesday, august 31

We will have breakfast at our hotel before departing for our Maine hotel. This wonderful day we will meet “Lenny”. You’ve heard of chocolate mousse, but have you ever seen a chocolate moose? Learn how this 1700-pound life-size chocolate moose was created by local candy makers and sample some local treats at Len Libby Chocolatiers. YUMMY!! Then we will travel on to our hotel in Portland, Maine where we’ll stay for four nights.

Day 5:
wednesday, september 1

Enjoy a nice Breakfast at hotel before departing for a day of touring. First, we will enjoy a City Tour of Portland. Maine’s largest city-by-the-sea. We’ll see views of Longfellow’s boyhood home, sea captain’s houses and the elegant Victoria Mansion as we drive through historic neighborhoods overlooking the Islands of Casco Bay in Portland Harbor. Our tour includes a visit to Portland Head Light. This historic landmark is the most photographed lighthouse in America, set in Fort Williams Park with crashing surf, a beach, and an old fort. Then, we’ll take a private tour of Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse that is not normally open to the public. The lighthouse is accessible via a granite jetty (some uneven footing). We’ll see how the lighthouse keepers lived as we walk through the rooms to the top of the two-story lighthouse. We can walk out on the ledge at the top for a beautiful view of the Portland waterfront. After, we will enjoy Lunch on own in Downtown Portland and Free time to explore the seaside town. This afternoon, we’ll board a tour boat for a narrated Portland Harbor Cruise. Sail on the calm harbor waters through the beautiful Calendar Islands, past forts and lighthouses as we hear the maritime history of Casco Bay. Dinner (Pre-Paid) included this evening in Portland’s historic Old Port.

Day 6:
thursday, september 2

Enjoy our Breakfast at the Hotel and then depart for Maine’s beautiful mid-coast region. First, we’ll visit Maine’s City of Ships, where we’ll tour the Maine Maritime Museum on the banks of the Kennebec River. The museum depicts Maine’s shipbuilding industry from the 1600’s to the present. Numerous hands on exhibits, boat building demonstrations, and a lobstering exhibit are here for you to see on the grounds of an historic shipyard. Then we’ll enjoy Lunch on Own and Free Time to explore Boothbay Harbor waterfront. The harbor area features brick sidewalks lined with unique shops with handcrafted goods, maritime gifts, antiques and art galleries. We’ll find a charming footbridge stretching across the harbor to walk along for great photo and many sailboats and lobster boats. This afternoon we’ll take a Guided Tour of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. See the beautiful coastline along woodland paths and along the river bank. Here the majestic Maine woods meet the rocky shore. The wetlands shore and the fern glens meet the moss and lichen covered ledges in a variety of special theme gardens such as the wildflower garden and children’s garden. This evening, we will enjoy Dinner (Pre-Paid) on way back to hotel.

Day 7:
friday, september 3

Enjoy a Hot Breakfast at our hotel then depart for Kennebunkport. Meet our local guide for a Guided Tour of Kennebunkport and Kennebunk, two shipbuilding villages on Maine’s south coast. Hear the history and folklore as we drive past the beaches, hear the legend of the Wedding Cake House and maritime history of sea captains and shipbuilders. We’ll travel through the port and along Ocean Avenue, past the Bush summer home at Walker’s Point and stop at the Franciscan Monastery with its seaside shrines and gardens. Then we’ll stop and have Free time for shopping and Lunch On Own in Dock Square with Boutiques and galleries filled with beautiful works of art & unique handcrafted gifts. This afternoon, we’ll take a Maine Lobstering Cruise on an 84-passenger lobster boat.  Learn how the Maine Lobstermen make their living as traps are hauled from the ocean along the rocky coast of Kennebunkport. See the sights as you cruise on the ocean past Walker’s Point, the Dark Shadows House and Bumpkin Island, home to a year-round colony of sea birds and seals. Our next visit is to Ogunquit, which means “beautiful place by the sea”. We’ll have free time for exploring Perkins Cove with its bobbing lobster boats, quaint shops and a unique drawbridge. The Marginal Way shoreline walking path with benches and scenic overlooks is also accessed here. Next we’ll visit Maine’s southernmost lighthouse in Cape Neddick at Nubble Lighthouse for a photo and take in the picturesque view near York Beach. From Nubble Light, we will also be able to spot the infamous Boon Island Lighthouse, located just off-shore. Now we don our souvenir Maine Lobster hat for a classic Lobsterbake theme Dinner with sing-along entertainment. We’ll feast on our choice of Maine boiled Lobster or Barbeque Chicken, chowder, cultivated mussels, corn-on-the-cob, Maine potatoes and blueberry cake. Yummy!!

Day 8:
saturday, september 4

Enjoy a Hot Breakfast at our hotel. Depart for New Hampshire. This morning, we’ll spend the morning exploring historic Portsmouth, New Hampshire and the seacoast region. We’ll take a guided tour of the Portsmouth Harbor Trail’s highlights. This tour provides an intimate look at Portsmouth’s early and ongoing relationship with the river. We will also hear the fascinating stories of early settlers, patriots, ship captains, and industrialists. After our tour, we’ll learn about the past 300 year history of the historic Strawberry Banke neighborhood, named by the first settlers in 1630 for the profusion of wild berries found on the riverbank shores. Experience life from the late 1600’s to the 1950’s along the Portsmouth waterfront by touring its houses, gardens, and courtyards at your own pace. Join costumed role-players as they go about their daily lives or relax in the shade of award-winning period gardens. Strawberry Banke is rich with history: George Washington, Daniel Webster, John Paul Jones, and John Hancock were all guests on this site! Lunch on own then depart for New York.

Day 9:
sunday, september 5

Enjoy a Hot Breakfast Buffet at our hotel. Depart for Cleveland, OH. We’ll enjoy a nice self-guided tour of  The Wild Animal Park. The zoo that provides a unique opportunity for visitors to learn about a variety of animals. With a wide range of domestic and exotics animals from all over the world, it’s a great place for adventure, learning, and hours of family fun! After, we’ll travel on to Ohio. Lunch and Dinner on own.

Day 10:
monday, september 6

Enjoy a Hot Breakfast at our hotel. Enjoy an easy day of riding to our hotel in Illinois for our last evening. Lunch and Dinner on own.

Day 11:
tuesday, september 7

Today, after enjoying a Continental Breakfast, we will depart for home…a perfect time to chat with your friends about all of the things we’ve done, the great sights we’ve seen, and where we will go on our next trip!
