Day 1:
Friday, august 22

Welcome Aboard! We’ll depart our pick-up locations for a nice ride across the states to our first en route hotel in Indiana.  Lunch and dinner on own en route. Check-in and time for rest and relaxation to en route hotel. Water and snacks provided on coach.

Day 2:
Saturday, august 23

Enjoy breakfast at hotel before traveling to hotel in New York. We’ll stop to visit  Brant Apple Orchard along the way. Free time to enjoy the orchard, bakery and market plus the walking trails and even feed the fish in the pond. Enjoy Lunch on own. After, we’ll continue our journey to our hotel for the evening and Dinner on own.

Day 3:
Sunday, august 24

Enjoy a nice breakfast at hotel before departing for our stay in Maine. Lunch (On Own) en route. Arrive into Maine this afternoon just in time for Dinner (Pre-Paid). Overlooking the harbor and serving a collection of Maine favorites! The Cape Neddick Lobster Pound – Harborside Restaurant, known locally as “The Pound”, was opened in 1959 by the Young Family. Off the beaten path, overlooking the Cape Neddick Harbor and Tidal River, it has been a place where locals gather for sunsets, paddlers and kayakers float by, children skip rocks, seagulls soar and lobstermen bring in the daily catch. The travel to hotel and check in and enjoy a Welcome Reception in the Main Lobby.

Day 4:
Monday, august 25

Enjoy a nice Breakfast at hotel before departing for a day of touring. First, we will enjoy a City Tour of Historic Portland. Maine’s largest city-by-the-sea. Plus, the Lighthouse Loop including a photo stop at Portland Head Lighthouse – Maine’s oldest and the most photographed!  Then drive by Spring Point Lighthouse, perched out in the harbor on a granite jetty and the nearby Bug Lighthouse Park on the grounds of a former shipyard with WWII Liberty Ship Memorial. We’ll end our tour with a drive along the Eastern Promenade, past sea captain houses overlooking beautiful Casco Bay. Say goodbye to our morning guide and enjoy Lunch (on own) in Freeport – home to the LL Bean flagship store and a myriad of outlet shops and casual restaurants.  Sit back and relax for our afternoon drive through the mid-coast Maine region, dotted with glimpses of quiet coves and bustling harbor villages. In the lobster capital of the world – we’ll tour the Maine Lighthouse Museum to learn about the beacons that dot the rocky coast of Maine – and see the Rockland Harbor Lighthouse guarding the entry to the harbor. Then check into our hotel for (2 nights) overlooking Penobscot Bay, within walking distance to shops, restaurants, art galleries & museums and 3 blocks from the harbor front park with a nice boardwalk to stroll.  All guest rooms overlook the bustling waterfront with fishing and ferry boats.

Then, travel to our hotel, check in and enjoy a Welcome Reception in the Main Lobby.

Day 5:
Tuesday, august 26

Enjoy Breakfast then meet our local guide for a narrated Tour of Camden Village, including a photo stop atop Mt. Battie in Camden Hills State Park – where the mountains meet the sea.  Learn about the famous poet that lived here and the seal named “Andre” who made this area his home. Then sit back and relax for our travel “down east” and across the causeway to Bar Harbor. The town of Bar Harbor sits at the gateway to Acadia and is a friendly collection of streets, shops and restaurants atop a hill that overlooks the harbor where tour boats, fishing vessels and cruise ships are moored.  Enjoy some Free time in Bar Harbor and Lunch (on own) at one of the many casual restaurants along the waterfront. Back on the coach, meet our local guide for a narrated tour of Acadia National Park. Here in the first park founded east of the Mississippi, you’ll see tremendous coastline views that have attracted the elite to this area for years and hear stories of the Victorian “rusticators”, more recent visitors and famous residents. Highlights of this tour include the stunning Loop Road, the summit of Cadillac Mountain, the crashing waves at Thunder Hole and quiet beauty of the inland park scenery. After, roll up our sleeves and don our lobster hats for a traditional Down-East Lobster bake (Pre-Paid) with all the fixin’s! Alternate menus offered for landlubbers (typically grilled steak and vegetarian entree).

Day 6:
Wednesday, August 27

Enjoy a Hot Breakfast at our hotel then we will head south to Maine’s pristine south coast region, famous for its stretches of sandy beaches and salt air breezes. First stop is Free time for shopping and Lunch (on own) in Dock Square, the heart of the Kennebunkport waterfront with many quaint shops and casual eateries. After, meet local guide in Kennebunkport for a Guided Tour of this former shipbuilding town.  View the sandy beaches, rocky coastline, Dock Square, the ornate “Wedding Cake House,” former President Bush’s summer estate and the seaside Franciscan Monastery. This afternoon, enjoy a Maine Lobstering Cruise on an 80-passenger lobster tour boat.  Learn how the Maine Lobstermen make their living as traps are hauled from the ocean along the rocky coast of Kennebunkport. See the sights as you cruise on the ocean past Walker’s Point, the Dark Shadows House and Bumpkin Island, home to a year-round colony of sea birds and seals. Then roll up your sleeves for another Lobster choice dinner (Pre-Paid) this evening. Alternate menus available for any landlubbers. Cross the bridge to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to our next hotel.

Day 7:
Thursday, August 28

Enjoy a Hot Breakfast at our hotel before we start to head for home. We will have Lunch en route and Dinner (on own) at the Eastview Mall and Free Time for browsing before getting to our New York hotel.

Day 8:
Friday, August 29

Enjoy a Hot Breakfast at our hotel before departing for our Indiana hotel. A day of travel with Lunch and Dinner (on own) en route.

 

Day 9:
Saturday, August 30

Enjoy our Hot Breakfast together prior to departing for home with many pictures, memories and new great friends! Welcome home!
