Today, travel to Mitchell, SD where you enjoy an overnight stay this evening at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 2:Wednesday, September 23
Corn Palace – Wall Drug Store – Rapid City, SD – Mt Rushmore Evening Lighting Ceremony
After breakfast at the hotel, visit to Corn Palace. The original Corn Palace, called “The Corn Belt Exposition”, was established in 1892. Early settlers displayed the fruits of their harvest on the building exterior to prove the fertility of South Dakota soil. While there, take a short, guided tour of the Palace. Your next stop today is at the Wall Drug Store, one of the world’s most well-known roadside stops. It’s hard to believe this tourist attraction got its start with something so simple – Free Ice Water!! Enjoy the famous Wall Drug Store where you will have time for shopping galore! Lunch will be on your own. Then arrive in Rapid City, SD for a three-night stay at the Doubletree by Hilton. This evening, enjoy dinner on own at Mt Rushmore and then stay for the Lighting Ceremony. The program includes American flag lowering with veterans on stage, a patriotic film and illumination of the faces. Return to Rapid City for the evening. (B)
Day 3:Thursday, September 24, 2026
1880 Train Ride – Crazy Horse Memorial – Buffalo Roundup Arts & Crafts Festival
This morning, Keystone, SD and board the 1880 Steam Train, for a scenic steam train ride through the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota to Hill City where you enjoy time for lunch on own. This ride takes approximately one hour and features a narrated history of the mining districts and communities served by the original rail line. This afternoon, visit the Crazy Horse Memorial. Born in 1840 along Rapid Creek, Crazy Horse rose to become one of the most powerful and most recognized Native American figures of the Lakota Indian Tribe, second only to Sitting Bull. His is an intriguing and vibrant legacy, inspiring the world’s largest mountain carving, beginning in 1948 and currently in progress, in the Black Hills of South Dakota. View a film, take a bus ride to the base of Crazy Horse Mountain, and then view exhibits at the Visitors Center. Next, head to Custer State Park for the Buffalo Round Up Arts & Crafts Festival. This event features up to 150 vendors offering their fine arts and crafts for sale, including many South Dakota-made products. Returning to Rapid City, dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. (B,D)
Day 4:Friday, September 25
Buffalo Roundup – Guided Rapid City Tour - Black Hills Gold Factory Tour
This is the Big Day! Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before departing early for Custer State Par’s Annual Buffalo Roundup. Feel the thunder as 1,500 buffalo rumbles by and park personnel and cowboys do their best to drive the Park’s herd into Buffalo Corrals, passing two designated viewing areas along the way. After the herd is safely in the corrals, the park staff will sort, brand, test and select certain animals for the fall sale to be held in November. After having lunch on your own, continue to Rapid City for a guided tour and uncover the must-see highlights that make Rapid City a truly remarkable destination. Also included this afternoon is a stop at the Black Hills Gold Factory for a tour through the jewelry factory. You will be able to watch and learn how their gold jewelry is made by their skilled artisans. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening. (B,D)

Sioux Falls, SD
Today, travel takes you to Sioux Falls, SD for an overnight stay at the Clubhouse Hotel & Suites. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Sioux Falls City Tour – Depart for Home
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide for a city tour of Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls is South Dakota’s largest city and is filled with waterfalls, charm and sidewalks

DJ Country Tours, Inc. shall be exempt from any liability in the event of an accident resulting in, but not limited to, loss or damage of properties, injury to people, death during trip, delays, irregularities or other occurrences beyond its control.
Trip Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans can change, and we strive to be as fair and accommodating as possible while meeting our vendor obligations.
ALL CANCELLATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO SUPPLIER / VENDOR POLICIES
When booking directly through DJ Country Tours:
All cancellation requests must be received in writing by email or letter. Please use our contact us page to submit your email request.
45 days or more prior to departure:
A full refund will be issued.
44–31 days prior to departure:
A refund will be issued minus a $50 per person administrative fee, along with any non-refundable deposits or supplier-imposed penalties.
30–21 days prior to departure:
A refund of 50% of the total tour cost will be issued, less any non-refundable vendor expenses.
20 days or less prior to departure:
No refunds will be issued.
Refunds will be provided when cancellations are made within the applicable cancellation period. However, any nonrefundable costs incurred by DJ Country Tours through third-party suppliers or vendors — including but not limited to hotels, attractions, transportation providers, events, or tour operators — remain the responsibility of the traveler.
Certain tours operated through third-party suppliers have separate cancellation terms and deposit policies that supersede the standard DJ Country Tours cancellation schedule. Those supplier-specific terms will be provided at the time of booking.
